Healthcare – Thinking out loud

As I have been wrestling with the healthcare issues in my head, I think that small changes in the current model are the wrong path. I think that the answer may be to take a leap forward. I think the insurance model is old and needs to be done away with.

I am considering alternatives to insurance and how to implement them.

Insurance is a bad deal because it best serves the insurance companies and not the policy holder. I am a relatively healthy person and having my money go to an insurance company really bothers me. I think most people spend more on insurance payments than they would on medical expenses. But the whole industry is focused on keeping people's money.

Also, there are many limitations and insurance companies are looking for ways to avoid paying up.

Alternatives? Few.

Couldn't agree more, we need a complete overhaul..but this won't happen unless it's over the dead bodies of the Insurance companies themselves! I think as a nation we owe it to our citizens to provide basic healthcare for all...but how to implement that is another can o worms entirely. That doesn't make it the BEST healthcare but at least everyone could be covered. IF you want better healthcare, you can pay for it.

So you are saying that you would rather have crappy health care that's free than good health care you have to actually pay (ie. work) for? What if you got REALLY sick? Wouldn't you want the BEST healthcare or would it not matter as long as it didn't touch your pocketbook (oh and you WILL end up paying for it, trust me)? I think the government needs to stay out of it. The medical industry was a lot better off before they stuck their nose in it.

Just my humble $.02. Its not like I ever worked in the medical AND the insurance business. While we're at it, let's give every child 5 grand. Where are we going to get the money? We'll just print more of course!
